The outdoor opportunities in the region are literally unsurpassed.   And the addition of fantastic cultural and educational attractions has transformed the area into a true vacation destination!

Outdoor enthusiast will find all the classic activities such as hiking, fishing, ATV riding etc.   It's just on a beauty and scale that is hard to imagine.   Hike in the famous red sandstone canyons of the Escalante River.   Fish for native trout in pristine alpine waters or horseback ride on Boulder Mountains countless trails.   OHV's and ATV's have countless roads too, designated for your riding pleasure.

Culturally, visit the many galleries to enjoy some of the extraordinary works being created here.   Several world class artists have chosen to call our little villages home and the results are quite often breathtaking.   Many offer workshops and other programs that allow visitors to experience the inspiration of our talented art community within this outdoor paradise.

Learn about pre historic peoples who inhabited the valley for thousands of years at the Anasazi State Park or reach out and touch brilliantly colored 65 million year old petrified tree's at the Petrified Forrest State Park.   The new Grand Staircase Interpretive Center has wonderful exhibits of flora, fauna and geology that show the immense diversity of life and strata of the Monument (1.9 million acres!).   And a brand new Heritage Center is going to share the historical account of the famous Hole in the Rock Expedition of 1879, which began its epic adventure in Escalante.
